How it fits
Teva says most Teva sandals fit true to size, and adjustable straps make it easy to fine-tune the fit.
Your heel and toes should sit comfortably on the footbed without hanging over the edge. Straps should feel secure but not tight.
Most Teva styles suit a variety of foot shapes, thanks to adjustable straps and a naturally comfortable forefoot.
Whole-size sandals
Some Teva sandals (like the Hurricane XLT and Original Universal) come in whole sizes only. If you wear a half size, Teva recommends:
Size down to the nearest whole size for a close, locked-in fit for water and light trail walking.
Size up to the nearest whole size if you have wide feet or high arches, or want extra sole in front of your toes on rugged ground.
Between sizes
Between sizes? Size up if you wear thick socks or orthotics, or you're on your feet all day. Choose the smaller size if you like a snug fit.
Widths
We carry Teva in one standard width; adjustable straps help with wider or narrower feet.

Growing room (kids)
How much room? About a thumb’s width at the toe — roughly ½ inch (1 to 1.5 cm) between the longest toe and the end of the shoe.
Thumb test: with your child standing, press the tip of your thumb down at the front of the shoe. You should be able to press down without hitting a toe.
Time for a bigger size if toes are pressed against the front, the shoe leaves deep marks or blisters, or your child says their feet hurt. Too big if their heel lifts out when walking, or they trip or drag their feet.
How to measure
- Draw a straight line, longer than your foot, on a sheet of paper on a flat surface.
- Stand on the line with your heel and longest toe centered on it. (For a child, it may be easier to hold the paper up to their foot.)
- Mark the tip of the longest toe and the back of the heel, then measure between the marks.
- Repeat with the other foot and use the larger measurement.
